The basis of our faith is that we believe in Jesus as the son of God who was sent to die on the cross so that our sins might be forgiven. His resurrection proved that he concurred sin and death and that we have eternal life through that. Even when our bodies die our spirits live on in heaven. If Jesus never resurrected our sins would not have been forgiven and our faith in the true living Jesus would not be true and no afterlife. In other words our faith will be meaningless. We live now because we believe that since Jesus beat death we will enjoy eternity with him.

Why didn`t the elders want the true story of Jesus` resurrection to get out? This was the work of the devil who did not want Jesus to be known as a winner over him (the devil) They wanted the Story of Jesus to end at the point of His death, that was to leave man without hope in the resurrection and new life which Jesus brought. They wanted to make Jesus a liar for he said He will rise in three days.
