Why was Peter`s rebuke a stumbling block to Jesus? Jesus came to earth to fulfill what is written in the scriptures which was the word of God. Peter's response was as a result of human understanding and against God's will. He wanted to change what was written in the scriptures and so was acting as a stumbling block for Jesus because he was trying to stop him from doing God's will and so Jesus had to rebuke him.

What did you learn about Jesus` background that stands out or surprises you? Jesus was brought up in a very challenging society with alot of limitation in life. It actually shows the humility He took for him to be born in a slave like society, low income society, challenging culture, commited to religious life despite them having poor education ground. this actually was the problem with the jewish authorities and possibly made them to fail to accept Jesus even lead them to have him killed.
