Jesus felt a great emotional pain of those around Him seen in the love that the Community had for the widow and son .

This love moved Him to show His own greater love in conquerring death so that the people can begin to experience victory over death through this love of God that was responsible for His coming to earth.

What was astonishing about this centurion was his love for the ordinary, marginalized and downtrodden people despite his high position in the Roman army.

Secondly, was his love attitude to his entire community  who were happy to testify of his works to Jesus.

Thirdly, was the faith of the centurion in God and the Authority in Jesus to healhis servant.

It is seldom to find men today in our communities in the calibre of the centurion having concern for the dispised in society, assist the community in development from their personal savings and have faith in God and the authority of Christ in this life.

Most often in these days, they use their military positions to dupe, rape or brutalize the people their are called upon to protect.
