The journey was not a forced one. It had been destined at that particular time and the fact that she accompanied her husband to their own country was enough proof that there was no problem. Mary and Joseph were not the only travellers who lacked room in that inn on the way to her husband's home. So the stay in the manger was not of a problem to Mary and Joseph to accommodate the baby Jesus. Many events sorrounded the birth of John the Baptist; - His mother was pregnant at an advanced age that people considered her baren - The father, Prophet Zachariah was dumb during the entire pregnancy. Based on these, the thinking of the people of John was more in line with the activities of his father, to be a Prophet. Ofcourse, they knew that the hand of the Lord was on John but the beheavior of the father at the time of the pregnancy could not make them link John's role to that of Jesus. The behavior diverted their thinking. They could, and did not imagine that John will be the king and liberator they were expecting with time as the case of Jesus. John had a lesser role in their thinking.The confirmation of the same name of John by Zachariah, which the family members did not recognize emphasizes this lesser role. Luke trully was anouncing the announcer of Jesus. What was Mary feeling right before Jesus´ birth? Note: She is described here as an unwed pregnant woman, who was forced to travel away from her family, only to deliver her baby in a barn?

Define "Salvation" ? Note how Zachariah (the father of John the Baptist) praises God for fulfilling an old promise (oath/covenant) that "we...should serve him (God) without fear, In holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life." Salvation is to be clensed from past sins by the blood of Jesus and born anew spiritually to live a life of holiness and righteousness.

What do people think about John the Baptist even before he is born? Note: Sometimes a big introduction is given for a person who then introduces someone even more important. Luke is announcing the announcer of Jesus.
