Yes JESUS did that so that they will not hold any charge against HIM.Although they still crusified him but all the charges against him were all based on their own accusation.So that what the scripture says will be fulfilled.

Why did Jesus clear the temple in such a dramatic manner? Why did not he try to accomplish the same thing more diplomatically? The temple is known as a place of worship and prayer.As a holy place,buying and selling may bring in corruption which might defile the sanity of the temple.It was for that reason,I believe Jesus decided to clear them in such a way in other to maintain the holiness in the temple.
