1513 entries for this category: Our heavenly Father rewards us when we fast i.e. in secret. We fast in order to be empowered by the Holy Spirit so that we can overcome the works of the enemy. Secondly, it enables us to get closer to the creator. Because it doesn't show hypocrisy. God who sees in secret rewards the giver who gave in secret because that person has exhibited the spirit of humility and it is acceptable unto Him Giving for people to see or shower praises on the giver is tantamount to showmanship and hypocrisy therefore, it is unacceptable to God. What is so good about fasting? Why fast?

Why does God appreciate prayers in secret more than public prayers? God sees in secret. He knows our thoughts, and therefore, there is no need praying publicly. Praying publicly is just to show men that one is religious and that shows hypocrisy. God abhors that. He rewards secret prayers because it is from the bottom of ones heart openly.
