Why did Jesus ask his followers to pray for laborers instead of praying for a greater harvest?

The harvest is the lost souls, the labourers are those who have accepted the word; since the followers who have the task of winning over these lost souls are less than the unbelievers Jesus asked his followers to pray for the labourers in order for them to win more souls and not to fall into temptation.

We are experiencing this in these end times many men of God have fallen into temptation.  The notion is that since they are men of God they do not need to be prayed for rather they should be doing the praying for the members and this is wrong.  Men of God need the prayers of the congregation too so as to continue with the propagation of the gospel without falling into temptation.

Why did Jesus say, "Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and announce the Kingdom of God"?

When Jesus calls he doesn't expect any excuse from us again.  When he calls he doesn't expect us to have any dealing with unbelievers again since they are not willing to be saved even the dead man was not saved before he died - hence the saying 'let the dead bury their dead'.  He expects us to spread the word about the kingdom of God at once without hesitating.
