What is Jesus trying to teach with this parable? Hint: The vineyard (where grapes are grown) is Israel; The farmer is God; the servants are the prophets who were sent by God; the son is Jesus; and the tenants are religious leaders of the Jews.
Jesus was actually foretelling his death;how he would be maltreated and killed by his own.It is very pathetic how the people of those days couldn't understand this parable and refrain from their evil executions. But today we are repeating the same mistake by nailing our savior countless times( whenever we sin). Indeed we are saved by grace.

Jesus said certain items belong to God that should be given back (rendered) to God. What are these items?
What profit a man to gain the world and lose his soul? We are also to present ourself holy and acceptable unto God. The breath of life in us is the spirit of God.In these bible statements we can admit that we are to render to God our soul, body and spirit(everything that makes a living soul). Jesus gave us his all and we must in return render unto him our all.

Jesus was trying to teach us that God sent his prophets to the people of Israel but they  did not accept them and He sent His only son Jesus Christ so that they chould have consider him but they beat him and at the end they killed him on the cross.
