But the Scribes and Pharises will never see themselves as sinners who need to repent. That is why Jesus used the tax collectors as example.

What made Jesus` teaching so attactive to tax collectors and prostitutes? They were convicted by Jesus' teaching and they realised that they were sinners and needed to repent of their sins. The tax collectors were cheats and realised that they needed to cheat no more and the prostitutes realised they needed to stop prostitution in order to inherent the kingdom of God.

Why did Jesus answer a question with a question, rather than just telling the Pharisees by what authority He acted? They, the Pharisees had made up their minds to trap Him with that question but they were cought in their own trap hence their refusal to answer the question.Poor they! they never knew who was in their mist because of their disbelieve.
