God realized that no amount of lamb can atone the sins of the world any more so that is why He sent His only begotten Son as a lamb to be cruciffied in order to take away the sins of the world. So John was speaking from the revelation from the Spirit that is why he introduced Jesus adn the lamb of God. Why did John introduce Jesus as "the Lamb of God"? It is a Lamb that is sacrificed as a recompence for sin. It implies that Jesus came to pay for our sins.
