The chief were angry becase not only did Jesus tell them the parable,He went on to ask a question on whay the Lord of the vineyard will do to those who keep on destroying His servants.A question He Himself answered by declaring that The Lord will destroy the farmers and will give the Vineyard to others. Jesus does not only end there He goes ahead to let the chief priests and the scripes learn that the stone which the builders rejected, the same stone was made the chief corner stone .And that anyone who falls on that stone will be broken into pieces, but will crush whomever it falls on to the dust. The implication is that The chief priest had the intention of killing jesus since they did not want ot know or recognise who Jesus was and thought of themselves to be the most important and could not understand how Jesus was going to be above them so that made them to be so angry. Also by killing Jesus they thought that it was right for them if they did so but were embarrased by Jesus parable to let them know that they were to be crushed by the lord. | Why were the chief priests and scribes angry, what was it that Jesus said? |
They were angry because they were aware that the parable Jesus said was directed at them. Jesus said that the stone which the builders rejected that had become the chief cornestone and that it would crush to dust anyone that rejected it. By: sylvia kretchy Category: The Parable of the Tenants |
