Authority in this context means He who created all what has come into being and has dominion over it.Because Jesus for the sake of our salvation had to take on the form of our weaker being he demonstrated His authority by first loving us,humbling himself in His teachings so that he could be undestood and finally imparting the Holy Spirit to those who believed and accepted His teachings.
