Jesus emphasizes the phrase "in my name" when refering to the miracle and giving a cup of water. What does it mean to do something in Jesus` name? it means everything that Jesus had already spoken about,because all power belongs to him and we must get through him to the father. Faith trust,believe courage wisdom etc,is what doing something in Jesus name entail.

Why Jesus said in his name was because he knew the power in his name. He also knew that because of the power in the name, miracles and a lot could be achieved by the name. He also said this because at that time, the name was so powerful that anyone who mentioned it must have believed in it, to be able to mention it. That same name today works miracles and dirves away principalities. There is power in that name.
