What made Peter so afraid to be identified with Jesus? Why are many people today still afraid to identify with Jesus?

Peter found himself all alone no Jesus,no brothers and he sees Jesus the Master being seriously tormented.Peter at this juncture like every human being is discouraged and feels that his identification with Jesus will mean more torment than that of Jesus Himself.He denies not because he does not love Him but because of human weakness.Furthermore it was just to fulfill Jesus prophecy thus:"Before the rooster crows you will deny me three times''.

Why did the high priest view it as blasphemy when Jesus acknowledged that he was the Christ, the Son of God?

They never believed that He was the Christ the Son of God because they are envious of Him.

Why did the high priest view it as blasphemy when Jesus acknowledged that he was the Christ, the Son of God?

For the Jews there was no human being who would compare himself to God.The high Priest could not imagine that the witnesses were serious about the acussations.So the high priest wanted to hear for himself whether what was said about Jesus was true.So when Jesus ex[lained more detailly the high priest saw it as blasphemy.
