Why was the Kingdom of God taken away from the chief priests and Pharisees? Jesus in this parable make a reference to the Prophets before Him. God had sent so many prophet to the Jews before Christ, but they were rejected. Some were persecuted and some of them were beheaded - like John the Baptist. Jesus is telling the Pharisees and Saducees that as much as they continued in their way, thinking they can not believe in the servant of God so they will perish when the ends come.
There are so many Pharisees and Saducees in our midst today who instead of believing and do the will of God through Christ, will blasphem and reject Him in totallity. So, God will reject them at the end of their journey on earth.
