3400 entries for this category: My Brief Summary of Jesus 2000 years ago God sent an angel to Israel, to a virgin named Mary. The angel told Mary that by God`s power, she would conceive and bear a son.
When the man Mary was engaged ''Joseph the carpenter''learnt that she was pregnant, an angel instructed him to marry her. Joseph took her to Bethlehem to register for a census. While there, Mary gave birth to Jesus. She laid him in a manger because there was no room at the inn. Shepherds visited Jesus in Bethlehem.
Later, wise men brought gifts to Jesus. They told Herod the Great, a wicked king, that Jesus would rule Israel. So Herod sent soldiers to kill the children in Bethlehem. Warned by an angel, Joseph took his family to Egypt. After Herod died, they returned to Israel and raised Jesus in a town called Nazareth.
When he was thirty he began his public teaching, quite alot of miracles were done by him as a result the Religious leaders asked the Roman government to execute him.
He was brutally tortured and was hung on the cross. on the third day he rose again.

What did you learn about Jesus` background that stands out or surprises you? The most astonishing about the background of Jesus Christ is the type of work he did when he was on earth.
If not, I have not ever come across from anywhere that Jesus did a carpentary work during his life time. I have read about Joseph being a carpenter. Also not stated in the Bible what Jesus did as at ages of 12 - 30 years.
Now, I want to know the difference between King and Messiah.
King in the contest of Bible is a king over the people of Isreal ''when people revolt against Samuel''.
Messiah - someone expected by Israelise to fight a war for them. Or what do think? I want a more elaboration on these two issues.
