What did Jesus state as the primary purpose of the temple, and how might this apply to today? What our Lord Jesus Christ state as the basic purpose of the temple is "prayer". Apparently, this apply to the contemporary Christians that the Churches should be a prayer houses; Not converted to robbers den. That is they should not be a place where materialism and mundane life reiegn supreme to the detriment of spiritual reality.
