Simply defined, "Salvation" should be another name for Jesus Christ, because he suffered and died on the cross to salvage us from our sins.

What do people think about John the Baptist even before he is born? Note: Sometimes a big introduction is given for a person who then introduces someone even more important. Luke is announcing the announcer of Jesus. They thought of him as a miraculous child.
