What is Jesus trying to teach with this parable? Hint: The vineyard (where grapes are grown) is Israel; The farmer is God; the servants are the prophets who were sent by God; the son is Jesus; and the tenants are religious leaders of the Jews. Jesus was trying intimate with the fact that He is the Son of God. And that their rejection was not new. Whatever they do they will have to account for it when the owner of vineyard comes that is they will be punished for rejecting the truth. No matter how they try to reject Jesus Christ, He is the Son of God, He is the Lord of their life.

Jesus was trying to tell them that he was sent by God the father to bring them to repentance but they received him not and were even planning on killing him.
