Why did the people ask Jesus to leave their region after they heard about the pigs?
They were afraid of the kind of power Christ Jesus possessed. They did not realised it will do them great good to have Jesus in their region but ignorantly thinking of what they will possibly loose, i.e their livestock which probably be their livelihood and some other things. So also in our lives too, we believe it will be costly to sacrifice little for Christ to come in and dwell in us without knowing it cost nothing compare its great ADVANTAGES. His grace is so extravagance and he lavish it on us. The people of Gadarenes did not know what they missed by sending Jesus away from their region.

How did the disciples
The fear of the disciples before the storm was mainly physical fear. Probably when evening had come they were becoming afraid of the night and danger associated with it. When they became afraid of the storm and Jesus calmed the sea and the wind, they feared Jesus. This is fear out of respect and trust that can build up faith.

How does Jesus link intimacy to him with obedience to him?" a "New" commandment?
If you obey Jesus Christ, you have already linked it to intimacy to him, by also doing this, a new commandment has not only been established, it has also been kept.
