What was Jesus feeling and thinking while he was mocked and humiliated in front of others? Recall Jesus` own teachings (Matt 5:11), "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven."

Jesus felt sorry for the people involved and even prayed for them at the end -Father forgive them, for they know not what they are doing. He also felt elated and humbled because he was doing his fathers will.

The Roman governor, Pilate, found that Jesus had done nothing wrong. Yet, he authorized Jesus` crucifixion to please the crowd. Can you explain why people put popularity above doing what is right?

This is because these people have sold their conscience. They beleive they need to win the popularity since they will determine whether they keep holding their position or not. They prefer dealing with the seen/physical than the spiritual. They have forgotten that God owns their soul.

When Peter realised he had denied knowing Jesus, why did he cry?

He cried because he knew he was guilty. Not just guilty, but guilty of an offence he was fully warned of. He also remembered his answer to Jesus when he warned him of this betrayal.
