Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God? Satan is the god of the physical realm - Matt.4:8-9 therefore, for the mission of Jesus to complete, He had to suffer physical and emotional pain with which the devil oppresses one. Without condemning the body which react to physical & emotional pain, death will not be possible and Salvation will not be.
