When asked about a religious practice (fasting), why does Jesus describe how old and new may not be compatible? BECAUSE HE WANTS TO TRANSFORM US COMPLETELY TO MAKE US ABSOLUTELY NEW TO RECEIVE HIS WORDS INTO OUR HEART AS OUR FORMAL SELF HAS BEEN CORRUPTED WITH SIN AND THE NEW (HIS WORD) CANNOT BE POUR INTO THE OLD VESSELS (OUR BODY).
