The blood of the new covenant represents the atonement for our sin which  Christ paid for on the cross. So, whoever drank out of it and believe that Christ had paid a price for our sins when he said: "It is finished."

The passover of the Jews was observed in remembrance of the evil that passed over them when God sent an angel to wipe out the evil doers.
