Why does Jesus encourage focusing on the daily task at hand and discourage predicting the future? I think that Jesus encourages the daily task at hand because everyday we could be repenting for our sins cleaning our souls and preparing ourselves for the day of His coming which is much better than living in a dream of trying to guess when that special time or day will be.

Jesus claimed that after a future period of destruction and distress, he (The Son of Man) will come back to earth with great power and glory. What did Jesus say he would do at that time? At that time, Jesus said that He will send out His angels and will gather together His chosen ones from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the sky.
