Jesus was commited to sacrifice his own life. What did he mean by the statement, "For who ever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel will save it"?

I think that Jesus meant that whoever wants all the fame and riches and forgets about His brother lying on the streets with no food or shelter will lose his life which is eternal life with Him. But the one that picks up His cross and follow Him in Word, deed and action is the one who will save his life or soul and gain eternal life with Him in Heaven.

What is "the Christ"? How is it different than one of the prophets?

The Christ is the promised one or the Messiah that God promised the Israelites that He would send. He is different from one of the prophets because in reality He is God's only begotten Son.

Why do you think Jesus brought the man outside the village before performing the miracle?

I think that Jesus brought the man outside the village before performing the miracle because He was not yet ready for everyone to get to know Him especially the Pharisees who were supposed to crucify Him.
