I understand that the discussion that was held between Jesus and Peter it was about the real feelings of Peter towards Jesus. The bible said that Peter after that discussion felt grieved, because it was like Jesus putting in doubt his love towards him. But what was really happening is that Jesus wanted Peter to reafirm his love three times, and also to understand that love must not be a feeling but must be proved, that is why Jesus quoted: if you love me Peter, feed my lambs, my sheep. If you love me Peter, do what I am commissioning to do. After the discussion, Peter probably asked himself, is it my love for Jesus not so strong as I thought, and wondering why Jesus asked that?....trying to find out what was missing in his love towards Jesus. !Kind of wonder, kind of dissapointment.! But in the other hand, we have the responsability of the task that jesus was giving him, probably Peter after the discussion, was trying to figure out about the task, and relating it to the love Jesus was demanded him to have in order to fullfill that task. There is another part of the discussion, about someone that would betray Jesus. Over this point, I think Peter felt sad, sorry for the person that would do that to his master Jesus, but also worryness, and probably impotence to do something to avoid it. Condemnation to that person. By: Maria Guadalupe Arce Alem Category: Jesus Reinstates Peter |
