God intended that His Son die for mankind so that we would be freed from sin and death. What a sacrifice Christ made! By his death and arising to spend eternity with the Father we are given the opportunity for eternal life. How did Jesus` death benefit people? From one perspective, it helped quiet the rioting and it restored a certain order to the territory, which is exactly what the Jewish leaders wanted in fear of the Romans. From another and much more significant & historical perspective, JESUS' death symbolizes that we would be forgiven of our sins and able to have eternal life. It also meant that we would be able to receive the holy spirit, the holy eucharist and be joined to the Father as the living body of Christ.
