It is my belief that JESUS came into the world to teach and lead by example. The people of the day did not know/understand that the hour was so close to where JESUS would be handed over and therefore be the living symbol of life after death.

With regards to Lazarus, I'm not sure if the weeping was due to the fact that GOD allowed JESUS to raise Lazarus so the people could believe in JESUS and the fact that the FATHERS will was being done. Or,if JESUS was saddened due to the fact that he would soon be raised in the same way and felt humanistic feelings for what he was about to endure. Perhaps, it may have been a combination of both.
