Specifically, their reasoning suggested that it would be impossible for JESUS at his current age to know of Abraham. They could not comprehend the fact that JESUS knew of Abraham in the spiritual life. As such, they felt JESUS was a blasphemer, which is the reasoning for their anger. Why were the Jews so angry that Jesus claimed to exist before Abraham was born? The Jews could not understand that Jesus IS the Son of God and always existed. They were looking at him at they would an ordinary person born of man.

Why were the Jews so angry that Jesus claimed to exist before Abraham was born? They were angry because Jesus said before Abraham exsisted I AM. Jesus was telling them of the unity or oneness with the heavenly father he has and they couldn't or wouldn't accept this. To them this was blasphemy.
