What did Jesus imply by saying, "This is my blood of the new coveneant, which is poured out for many."? Consider that the Passover was a Jewish festival that remembered when a plague of death "passed over" the home of those Jewish people who marked their doors with blood from a lamb. Jews remembered this day with a feast of unleavened bread. What Jesus meant was that through his death and spilling of His blood, he sacrificed himself so that we can gain eternal salvation. Jesus was the new covenant, replacing the lamb in the Old covenant with himself.
