During his childhood he was a good son, honoring his Mother and Father, but as he moved into his manhood (age 12/13) he started his ministry as seen in the "Lost at the Temple" event. As there is no information from age 12/13 to his meeting with John, logic would suggest that he was good to his parents and followed in his Father's carpentry craft. It would also be logical that leaders/teachers would have recognized his understanding of Jewish history and law that Jesus would have kept in "school." Given that Nazereth would have had limited educational opportunities, little would be known or written about Jesus at this time of his life. During his ministry his followers included all walks of life, from poor to wealthy. The wealthy and possibly powerful followers that may have changed events were not able or did not have the earthly resources to save Jesus from the Cross (God's Plan). I have done a lot of heartfelt thinking in this reading today of Mark 2:1-12. I realize that I spend a whole lot of time dreaming and praying for God to fix me and alter me to reflect His image. I do small things here and there to change bad habits and to live a more pure and Godly life. Things have been going great and improving significantly since I have made that small commitment to God. However, I realize that what I truly need is faith that rips holes in ceilings to get to Jesus Christ. When I get there, the healing power of our savior will wipe away whom I was in the past. I will be able to pick up and toss away all of those things that I had relied on for comfort. I can head home with my head held high and a new woman in Christ. That is my new goal.
