Realizing the severity of the sin and the impending consequence; Jesus took control. Anger is not bad or sinful. In fact the word says "be angry but do not sin". Jesus did not sin, He sent a statement to those who were, "I will not tolerate complete and total lack of respect to holiness. Jesus also tells us the purpose of the temple. My Father's house will be a house of prayer. He was also standing up for the rights of those who wanted to use the temple for those purposes, but could not because of the distraction of the money changers who were OVERCHARGING for the pigeons they were selling as a sacrifices to those who came empty handed. Have you ever been outraged at the prices of candy at the movies? And that is not even close to being holy. They were taking something intimate and holy, and putting a price on it. Salvation and prayer are free to all who will accept it. Jesus knew the price He was about to pay for the sin going on, 39 stripes, a crown of thorns, a cross, very large nails, His side split open, not mention the humiliation. All for those who were selling the sacrifices the jews were to offer at an outrageouse price. If you understood the price He paid for your salvation. You would ask WHY he didn't do more than just clear the tables, and thank Him that your salvation is not up for diplomacy. It was won at the cross. Why did Jesus clear the temple in such a way. ![]()
