Jesus was doing two things: fulfilling scripture and showing that he was not the worldly military king that most of the people following him thought he was. Why did Jesus choose to make His entry to Jerusalem in a humble manner, riding a donkey? Jesus did this entry as to fulfill the words of the prophet. Jesus himself was also very humble humanbeing and people loved him so much that they spread their clothes on the road while other cut branches and spread it on the road.
