27012 entries for this category: fasting, from what i've read is more about self sacrifice for others, meaning giving of your time and resources than not eating. this was a man made tradition long ago. just like the roman catholic church made up the tradition and then turned it into law that priests can not marry. i don't believe there is anything wrong with fasting, Jesus fasted, but it is not a biblical command. Why is giving in secret more to be commended that giving where people can see it? Because giving in secret means you are giving because of the desire to benefit someone or something. It is coming from the heart and not for the purpose of letting people know that you are doing something for the publicity of it. God knows your true intention.

What is so good about fasting? Why fast? The good thing about fasting is that it keeps our body at rest and cleans it. Once in a way we should fast for God because in so doing we think of God and brings us closer to God. We should do all this in secret and let no one know about but only God.
