How did Joseph know it was a real angel appearing to him in his dreams, and not just , for example, indigestion? He probably felt the spirit of the Lord in the presence of the angel.

How did (does) repenting prepare someone for the Kingdom of God? Repenting for our sins whole heartedly and asking for forgiveness makes us ready for the eternal Kingdom of God. We should repent and ask God to cleanse us and renew us to a new life.
