Why was Mary`s annointing so meaningful to Jesus? Mary was showing that she had true faith in Jesus and she did it in view of others. In those days it was not unusual for guests to be annoited with oil on their head, but Mary annointed Jesus's feet and wiped it with her hair. the oil (NARD) she used was costly, about a years wages. Mary was also prophesising about Jesus's death and didn't know it because in those days they put oil on dead bodies. that's why it meant so much to Jesus.
