How is it that the Christ is descended from David, and yet David still calls Him Lord? According to Mark's record, no one answered that question. But our Lord is thrusting deeply now and is driving home a very important point to these scribes. How can the Messiah be David's Lord and still be his son? The answer is the mystery of his own person. Jesus is descended from David according to the flesh but he is the Lord of Glory according to the Spirit. This is verified by Jesus is Revelation 22:16 where Jesus states that He is the root ''Creator/Lord'' of David, as well as his offspring '' a descendant of David''.
Rev 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, [and] the bright and morning star.
