Why do you think the Samaritans called Jesus the Savior of the world?
When the Samaritian woman at the well told them of all that had taken place, including the part where Jesus told her she was living with a man that was not her husband, there were amazed. Many also believed when they heard Jesus for themselves and said truly  this man is the Savior of the world.

Why do some people need signs and wonders to believe in Jesus, and others do not?

Those who need signs and wonders to believe in Jesus are doubters, like Thomas, he had to put his hand in Jesus wound to believe it was Jesus even though He was right there.

True believers trust in the word of God because of their faith. The nobleman in the story believe that Jesus could heal his son and because of his faith, his son was healed without Jesus going to where he was. Because Jesus died for us, His grace and mercy is sufficient to take us through. The love God has for us and the promises He makes to us if we live faithful life, is enough sign to sustain us.

Why was it necessary for Jesus to increase and John to decrease?
John was sent to make way for Jesus who is greater than he. John had to decrease so Jesus could increase by carrying on the work which His Father has sent Him to do.
