Why did John introduce Jesus as "the Lamb of God"?

John introduced Jesus as the 'Lamb of God' because God who sent him to baptise with water told him he was to make the way for one who will baptise with the Holy Spirit, one whom he (John) is not worthy to stand in his place.

John testify that the one who sent him gave him a sign, that the Spirit would come down as a dove and remain on the one who would baptise with the Holy Spirit. He will know He is the Son of God.

Jesus is the Lamb of God, he came to wash away our sins, He came to die for us.

Jesus took careful time to explain all things about his death and resurrection. Does this give you confidence in his words and promises, knowing he and others had predicted his death and resurrection? "Beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he explained to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself."

Yes, I believe and is confident in Jesus, His birth was predicted by prophets long before He was born and so was His death. He explained all about what was going to happen to Him to His disciples so they would be prepared, as He is preparing us today for His second coming.

Yes I am confident in His words and promises. He keeps His promises, He never lies, He cannot lie, I truly love and trust Him.

Why do you suppose they were filled with fear then comforted by Jesus eating food?

Even though Jesus told them He would rise again after three days, the disciples still could not believe it when they saw Him, they though He was a ghost. Prehaps they were seeing the holes left in His hands and feet and that scared them.

By eating the bread Jesus proved to them He was not a spirit because spirit does not have flesh and bones. They were comforted knowing He was with them again.
