The elders were afraid the soldiers and people would not believe that Jesus was risen from the dead.

Why is the Resurrection of Jesus a source of hope for people, even today? It is a source of hope even today because Jesus foretold His death and Resurrection and it all came to pass as it was told. No man can know the things Jesus knew. Even though He suffered at the hands of many, He still love and forgive us because His Father sent Him to die for us.
