Jesus could have gone to Lazarus and healed him before he died, but that would not be enough to convince His disciples that He could raise the dead. So Jesus delayed going to see Lazarus until two days after his death so that the disciples along with Lazarus sisters, Mary and Martha could see that miracle and believe.

The disciples did not understand when Jesus told them He was going to see Lazarus because he was asleep, so when they questioned Him, He said Lazarus is dead. Jesus simply said, Lazarus, get up, and he got up and all who saw praised Jesus.

This great act of faith shows the power of the man and what He can do for us if we only but believe and receive Him.
