Why does Jesus describe to his disciples how disobedient, ignorant and lazy servants are punished by their master, and how obedient, alert and active servants are given greater authority?
Jesus is saying, as children of God we should be obedien, alert and active in out ministry to be given greater authority.

Suppose this lawyer, right after questioning Jesus, saw a man half dead in the road. What do you think this lawyer would do?

I suppose since he answered each question Jesus asked correctly, he would have compassion on the road and help the half dead man. Jesus points us in the right direction and gives us a chance to think for ourselves, we bear the consequences if we do wrong.

The lawyer seem as if he wants to inherit eternal life and Jesus said you should love your neighbour as yourself, so he would be willing to help.

What personal philosophy or mindset diverted Jesus from ever using violence?

Jesus mindset was to save people and for us to love one another as He has loved us.

Even when His own did not receive Him, Jesus did not allow His disciples to harm them. What a loving, peaceful and caring Father He is. I truly love Him.
