Why does Jesus call "Love One Another" a "New" commandment?

John 13:34,35, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." To me, this explains it all, we are not only to love, but as Jesus loved, when we love each other we are expressing that feeling of unconditional love Christ has for us. It shows that we belong to Him and are obedient to His Word.

The New Commandment reminds us that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, He paid the price for us with His life, that in itself shows the depth of love Christ has for his people especially the born again believers. In the Old Covenant or old laws, sacrifices of animals and burnt offerings were use to atone for sin or unclean acts, but thanks be to God, Jesus Christ was the sacrifice for our sins. He paid that price long ago all we have to do is love and obey Him and claim the victory.

If you love the Lord your God with all your heart, then you can love one another, you can be a living example of Jesus' love.

Love is not just a feeling, it is action, giving of your time, showing others you care by listening, by devoting quality time with and for others who might be less fortunate than yourself or giving a good word to someone who don't know much about Jesus. Love is constant, it is a small word with many different yet great meanings, but the love Jesus speaks about here is that 'Agape love,' the spiritual love that associates with God and christians, that love you so freely give and ask for nothing in return. God is love, seek Him, love your neighbour as yourself, love one another.

L  - Let us

O - Obey His commands and

V - Victory will be ours now and through

E - Eternity.

How does being forgiven increase ones love for God? Note: According to Jesus, God`s forgiveness is motivated by love.

Being forgiven lifts a load away, it gives you a sense of knowing God loves you and is always with you. It allows you to constantly talk with God, tell Him how you feel, it allows you to be able to forgive and love others. When you are forgiven you are cleanse, you are motivated to do good and express your love in the things you do, the way you behave and your constantly want in the light with God.

In Genesis Chp 50, after the death of Jacob, his sons were afraid that their brother Joseph would paid them back for the evil they did to him long ago, so they send message and beg his forgiveness, this made Joseph wept. Joseph had forgiven them long ago because God was with him from the day they through him into that pit, he was sad, he was mad and probably hated them for a while, but he said "god turned into good what you meant for evil," you see if Joseph had choosen not to forgive, he would never be able to grow in Christ.

Forgiveness is acting out of love, we do not deserve God's forgiveness because He send His only son to die for our sins yet we do not obey Him as we ought to. This says a lot more than we can express or imagine, but at times it is hard for us to forgive others and leave everything in God's hand.

When you are forgiven you become free of anger, hatred, malice, bitterness and the power of prayer and of love and God's grace and mercy surronds you.

Love God, love others and trust Him to do His will in your life today, forgive and be forgiven.

What is the Kingdom of God?

My knowledge of the Kingdom of God was; that glorious place where we would find eternal peace and rest on that great day when Jesus return to earth. But in studying this lesson, I learn that it is much more than that - most importantly, it is created in us when we are born again, it is a relationship of the spirit.

The Kingdom of God is eternal, it is spiritual and it is found within born again believers. John 3:5 says no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and of the Spirit.

Jesus Christ reigns in the heart of all believers, but the kingdom of heaven will not be fully realized until all evil in the world is judged and removed.

We are called as Christians to confess our sins, forgive others, ask for forgiveness and be obedient to the Word of God and His commands. On that great day when Jesus returns to earth those whose name is written down will be called up to meet Him, the dead in Christ will rise first and will live at peace with His Father in heaven. All who say Lord, Lord, will not enter the kingdom of God.

The kingdom of God is a place of eternity.
