Why does God appreciate prayers in secret more than public prayers? Because it gives us the opportunity to be more focused on what we are praying about. Praying in secret can also shut out the outside world where you can meditate and have a closer intimacy with God.

Why is giving in secret more to be commended that giving where people can see it? It is more blessed to give than to receive. The Lord doesn't want us to broadcast to the public when we give. He said whatever our right hand does the left hand should not know about it. Some people do it publicly just to be seen, but He said we will not get our reward this way. When we give we must give with a willing and a loving heart, expecting nothing in return.
