Why is it Jesus speaks so strongly against divorce and remarriage?
Jesus speaks strongly against divorce and remarriage, because the union between a man and a woman is a sealed covenant. first this foundation should be built on God's favor and so the idea of divorce and remarriage will not take place. many people married because of a set agenda, and the relationship has complications, so when they seek the truth and realize their mistake they then want to remarried, when Christ speaks of this in the Holy Book, to seek the kingdom first, to avoid all this controvesy. Jesus is against all this because it is not of God, neither is it written in the Word of God. So the church should always stress on building on Christ foundation first.

How is gazing with lust like adultery?

Adultery is using another person as a sex object.  Lust is viewing another person as a sex object.  Christ wants us to realize that both the act and attitude are sinful.  Righteousness calls for us to view all human beings as persons of worth and value.  We are to serve others, not use them.

Both Jesus and the Old Testament teach that God's law is concerned not only with external and outward actions but also with the attitudes of heart and mind that lead to the actions.  The action as well as the intent to carry out the action are both condemned as violations of God's law.

In Jesus' commandment, Jesus includes the lustful look and the sinful imaginations.  There is adultery of the body and adultery of the mind.

How is gazing with lust like adultery?
Gazing with lust is like adultery, because you are in your mind playing out the actions you will like to have with this person, if given the chance, would succeed in doing it, as like adultery is actually doing it, while lust is willing to do it. All the same when you look at it.
