If you had a one-on-one meal with Jesus, what would you discuss?

I would discuss God divine purpose for my life, how should I pray, forgiveness, love, and my mission.

Just worship him in his beauty and give him the praise and thanks for having dinner with me.

"Was Jesus trying to incite his death (eg. temple cleansing, accusation of leaders?)

No, Jesus knew that he was going to die.  Jesus life was an example for us to live by and his death was that so we as believers would have a chance of eternal life.  By the cleansing of the temple he was simply letting us know that the purpose of the Temple is for prayer and worship. We are reminded in Isaiah 56:7 “for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all people.” However, it was being use for secular purposes and this displeases God when we change that purpose into a materialistic purpose to satisfy our human desires.

God always wants us to put him first in every thing that we do.  He does not want us to change the law he has commanded for the church. These activities were no part of what God authorized the church to do, so Jesus just wanted us to remember that he would cast out anyone who violates God’s purpose for the church like he cast out the money changers out of the temple.

The temple cleansing is a perfect example of what Jesus is doing in the hearts of His believers these days.  It is our responsibility as the Bride of Christ to make men holy and bring them into the Holy of Holies.  It grieves Jesus to see that these men were exploiting the house of God for their own marketing scheme.

Unfortunately, today the church is still being exploited.  As children of the God we were given the grace to reconcile each non-believer to the Father.  See Eph 2:5, 8 and Heb 12:28.  Christ died for our sins. John 15:13-14 “Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends.” Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.” Even then, Jesus was letting his followers know that his death was unavoidable.
