Peter was convinced that he would be loyal to Jesus even if it meant "dying". Who would you sincerely be willing to die for?
What an eye-oprning/ sobering question. In all honesty, I can' really say that there is anyone I would sincerely be willing to die for. However, in this scripture passage, Jesus is not asking Peter to physically die for anyone. Jesus is calling us to focus on what we have to give up(mother/father/ sister/brother), worldly possessions in  order to become his folowers. He wants us to to totally submit ourselves to carrying out his work., In order to do this, we must die to ourselves. This is what Jesus is referring to when he addressed Peter.

In anticipation of what isahead, Jesus experiences intense emotions, described as troubles, distress and exceeding sorrows. What final decision does he make here in discussion with his "Abba Father" (daddy).
The final decisio0n Jesus made was to submit himself to the will of his father. He decides that despite the pain and agony he was facing,he would be obedient and give himself over to the agony. There was nothing he could do,to change the circumstances /situation in which he found himself. If he ...where would we be?

Jesus decides that His Fathers' will be done. He knew that He was chosen to suffer and die for us, but in His emotions He ask His Father, if this pain, this sorrow, this distressing time could just be taken from Him do so, but in the same breathe He said, 'not my will but thine be done'.

He knew it was His Fathers' will. He loves us and there is nothing impossible for Him.
