What is Jesus trying to teach about giving(amount, motive, attitude)?

Jesus is trying to teach that when we give we should give willingly, not necessarily because of the excess that we have. Jesus was trying to teach about the generosity of the poor.

Our attitude/motive,amount when giving should not take precedence over what God calls us to do. The poor widow gave her last knowing that when she gave it she would have nothing left. However, Jesus blessed her and from that time on she never went without. This is because oftentimes those who have much only give ougt of their excess not from the generosity of their heart.

Why does Jesus place commandments to actively love above commandments to do evil?

Jesus places rthe commandment to love above that to refrain from evil because Jesus is ofb God, and God is love. In 1st, John,it tells us that we should remember the emssage which we heard from the beginning, which is to love one another. We are not to be evil like Cain who belongd to the evil one and killed hs brother.

As people called to love one another as we love ourselves, then we are aware that we would not willing kill ourself. Therefore if we would not be evil and kill ourself, then we would show love to our neighbor because we love them just as much as we love ourself.

The way we came to understand this commandment to love our neighbor as ourself, was because Jesus through love, laid down his life for us. Just as Jesus did, so too must we lay down our lives for our brothers. This is the epitome of loving our neighbor as we love ourself.

However, we must show this love not only in words, but in our deeds and actions as well. For those who keep this commandment and refrain from evil remain in Christ and Christ in him.

What is Jesus trying to teach in this parable?

In this parable Jesus indicates his self-awareness of his unique , divine sonship. He was also tyring to teach that we tend to reject, and turn away from the message because we do not like the messenger.

The vineyard in today's context is the worldn into which the message is sent. The farmer(God )himself who sent his onle son to us and whom we rejected. Jesus is also trying to teach that the servants (the prophets of old) and by extension the disciples whob were chosen by Jesus himself to bear his message and us the followers(tenants) who are the religious leaders, who proclaim, share the word, and the church members, who hear/accept the word and is being called to live it.

However, the very ones who are sent to us to bring the word of God are rejected because we tend to look at the messenger rather than pay attention to the message. Hence, the scripture vers" the stones which the builders rejected shall become the head cornerstone." Jesus is trying to teach us that we must accept the message and not look at the messanger alone.
