"Let's go over to the other side." Leaving the multitude, they took him with them, even as he was, in the boat. Other small boats were also with him. A big wind storm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so much that the boat was already filled. He himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion, and they woke him up, and told him, "Teacher, don't you care that we are dying?" He awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace! Be still!" The wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, "Why are you so afraid? How is it that you have no faith?" They were greatly afraid, and said to one another, "Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?" Mark 4:35-41 . Faith is the substance of life. A substance where you dont see or feel anything, but you still believe no matter what. Faith is what we have to live with if we want to survive this life and be with Jesus one day. Faith is th never ending trust, and belief between a substance and an individual. The desciples had no faith. Hence the reason for their fear. You see when you truly believe in something or someone (faith) no matter what you will never give up. You would never be afraid, or worry would not cross your mind neither will there be doubts. The people saw a storm coming, and felt the benefits of Gods power. They thought because Jesus was asleep, he could do nothing. But as the saying goes 'there is nothing done silent, that would not be brought to the lights' and 'the Lord our God does not sleep'. Jesus wants us to believe in him, no matter what. Without asking for a sign, or without fear unconditionaly, just like he loves us, and believes in us to trust him. After the people saw this great calming of the wind, then they questioned and queried about him. I would say they had more fear after the storm, than they did before. Because before the storm they were afraid of dying by the storm, but after they saw this calming of the winds, they were afraid of who Jesus were. Stay Blessed Shalom. | What does the contrast between the small seed and huge bush teach you about the kingdom of God? |
It's like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, though it is less than all the seeds that are on the earth, grows up, and becomes greater than all the herbs, and puts out great branches, so that the birds of the sky can lodge under its shadow." With many such parables he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear it. Without a parable he didn't speak to them; but privately to his own disciples he explained everything. Mark 4:30-34 According to Gods words. He believes the very littlest thing, could do the biggest and most important job there is. Just like David and Goliath. Tiny little David taking on the pressures of the Biggest Giant Goliath and yet he succeeds, all because he had faith in his God. Once you have faith in Jesus, he will have hope in you and can then pull you through some really sticky situations. Gods love does not come with conditions, boundaries or limitations. Nope it doesnt. It simply comes with a clean heart and soul. Thats why i Love him............ Stay Blessed. Shalom By: Ray Chel Category: The Parable of the Mustard Seed |
